The learning journey

A path that grows with your student.

AI learning isn't a one-off. From Year 7 to Year 12, Inno AI offers a clear progression — building real skills, stage by stage, all the way to future-ready.

Every student starts somewhere different — and progresses at their own pace. Our journey maps five stages across the school years, so you can see how skills build over time and where to start today. Each stage connects to a level of the AI Science Program, giving structure to the whole path.

Five stages

From Explorer to Future Ready

  1. 1
    Years 7–8

    Explorer

First steps into real AI — how machines see, read and hear. Hands-on from the first class, with no prior experience needed.

    Skills
Core AI concepts, creative prompting, testing and iterating
    Projects
Image recogniser, text analysis tool, speech recognition app
    Maps to
    Level 1 — AI Perception
    Outcome
Students see AI as something they can build, not just use
  2. 2
    Years 8–9

    Creator

Making real things with AI — and understanding the models behind them.

    Skills
Prompt design, model thinking, testing and improving
    Projects
AI chatbot, AI voice project, AI image creation
    Maps to
Levels 1–2 — AI Perception, Reasoning & Creation
    Outcome
Can build a working AI project and explain how it works
  3. 3
    Years 9–10

    Builder

Real projects, real understanding. Students start to think like builders.

    Skills
Coding fundamentals, problem-solving, multimodal AI concepts
    Projects
Multimodal AI apps, RAG chatbots, smarter assistants
    Maps to
    Levels 2–3 — Reasoning, Creation & Agents
    Outcome
A growing portfolio and confidence for bigger builds
  4. 4
    Years 10–11

    Innovator

Deeper, more ambitious projects — and the ideas behind today's leading AI.

    Skills
AI agents, model training, independent building
    Projects
AI agents, fine-tuned models, original creations
    Maps to
Levels 3–4 — Agents & Advanced AI Models
    Outcome
Can design and build genuine AI projects, largely alone
  5. 5
    Years 11–12

    Future Ready

The cutting edge — independent research and competition-grade projects.

    Skills
AI research, advanced building, presentation, portfolio
    Projects
Research projects, competition entries, capstone builds
    Maps to
Level 5 — AI Research & Capstone, plus AI Competitions
    Outcome
Real capability, a strong portfolio, a genuine head start
Why the pathway matters

Long-term value, not a one-off.

Skills compound. A student who starts as an Explorer and continues year on year builds something a single workshop never could — deep understanding, a real portfolio and the confidence to keep learning as AI evolves. You can start anywhere, at any age.

Find your child's starting point.

Tell us their year level and we'll show you where to begin.
